The Koala was back this weekend......well, not entirely sure it is the same koala

Very exciting to see such a beautiful animal up so close.  She was very relaxed around us, and even put on a climbing display to come closer towards us.
The kitchen is nearly in at the house in Sandy Point.  It will all be painted by the weekend and new carpets go down in mid December.  The stone work top arrives and will be fitted on 13th December - so job nearly done!
In one picture, you can see James and Philly on floor by new french doors (our new penguins - hand carved wooden).  We saw them in a shop on Saturday in Fish Creek and bought one, and the other looked so lonely on its own we went back to get it.  Don't worry we also have a Charlie and Petra, they are real though......possums who visit us in our courtyard when we are outside of an evening barbecuing!  They walk along the fence right above our heads!
Don't ask why we named them after the family, none of you actually look like penguins or possums!?!
Yet to find a Chris and Rog - but will let you know when we do!
Enough wittering, and here are the pics......

Very random selection of photos.......

My first attempt at uploading a kitesurfing video.....here goes.....

This is me kite surfing yesterday (Sunday), on a 10m kite.  Fantastic conditions and not another person for miles - bliss.   This beach is called Ned Neale's, and is 4 minutes walk from our house at Sandy Point.  Apologies for the wind sound, will work out how to put new sound over the top soon enough!

The house is coming along very well...

We have been working very hard and have laid the new timber floor.  It is a timber called Stringybark which is from NSW and is a type of eucalyptus.  We laid it in one day, well Paul really laid it, I did glue every board though, and help cut them.  I got a surfboard and a waterproof video camera for my birthday (and some beautiful diamond and silver earrings) so house renovations go on hold while I go surfing!!!  Here are a few shots of progress so far.......and Annabel who has been visiting for a week.

Sandy Point with Annie, Andy, Tommy & Georgie - and Phillip Island

Guess who's a natural with wallabies.......? This is an echidna, the others I think you'll recognise. Loads more and a few videos to come too. Paulie gave me a video camera for an early birthday present, so watch this space for some wobbly footage!!

Paddling at Half Moon Bay, Brighton this morning

Friday, October 3, 2008

Me talking about the bay..

Saturday afternoon in Brighton.....

We went out for Simon's birthday last night, and this morning we got up early and went for a paddle on the bay.  It was pretty chilly in the water, but beautiful blue skies and sunshine.  The stand up paddle board arrived yesterday - very exciting!!
A couple of photos of the city taken from Brighton - my office is the second highest tower on the sky line.

Waratah Bay - 5 minutes drive from Sandy Point house.

This is Waratah Bay, which is at the other end of Sandy Point surf beach.  It is where I am going to learn to surf....... There was a lovely rainbow but not sure I captured it too well if I am totally honest!

Outside on the decking at Sandy Point - and our neighbours.

Roughing in the plumbing in the bathroom...and more of my plastering on display....

Lucky Paul knows what he is doing, as we ripped up the floor of the bathroom and Paul has re-located toilet and shower etc.
I did see one very large huntsman spider - outside on the garden fence though!!

Demolition has begun.......

We have decided to start on the bathroom and demolished it in a weekend, the pictures show how it is progressing.... this is my first bit of plastering. It isn't dry there - it looks better now.

Various.....

This is Bronte, (Lucas' girlfriend for his gap year). She is our friends Mandy & Nathan's daughter.
And a really dodge photo of me just before my plastering course.  And one at Shallow Inlet, Sandy Point on Sunday...... It's all me, me, me.

16 Telopea Drive, Sandy Point

Well, we went to the house at Sandy Point on Friday - with a trailer full of matresses, sofa, armchair and a camping fridge.  We had a most pleasant experience at Ikea (honestly - first time ever) and bought the sofa and armchair on Friday morning and headed down in the afternoon, after a bit more ferrying of bed frames etc.
We moved straight in that evening, not allowing ourselves to sit down until we were fully installed, and we had the most relaxing weekend possible.  The sun rises in the morning and spills on to the decking area and through the french doors to fill the house with sunshine.  We sat outside listening to the birds singing and me looking for koalas, drinking tea and reading our books.
It is winter at the moment, but the weather was glorious, totally blue skies and long walks on the beach.  Here are a few photos, some better ones coming.

Pelican crossing......

I know.... I am like David Attenborough......
I took these photos while we were fishing on a jetty at half moon bay, which is 5 minutes drive from Brickwood Street.
I still haven't caught a fish, I did catch a pier, I got my hook attached to the underside of a pier at Port Welshpool over easter and had to cut my line - Dad, you would have laughed!!
